As a Specimen Collector, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare industry by collecting, labeling, and transporting specimens for laboratory testing. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately and efficiently collect various types of samples, including blood, urine, saliva, and other bodily fluids, in accordance with established protocols and procedures. Attention to detail is paramount in this role, as even the smallest error could impact the accuracy of test results and patient care.

Your day-to-day duties will involve interacting with patients in a professional and compassionate manner to explain the collection process, alleviate any concerns or anxiety they may have, and ensure their comfort throughout the procedure. Additionally, you will be responsible for verifying patient information, correctly labeling specimens, and maintaining proper documentation to track each sample from collection to analysis.

In addition to collecting specimens from patients, you will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including sanitizing collection equipment and properly disposing of biohazardous materials. Strong adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures is essential to prevent contamination and ensure the health and safety of both patients and staff.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification or training as a Specimen Collector preferred
• Previous experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
• Basic computer skills for data entry and electronic record-keeping
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry heavy objects, and bend or kneel as needed
