Job Description:

The Eddy Research Group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Florida (UF), Gainesville, FL invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in Biological Chemistry. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Matthew Eddy (https://eddy.chem.ufl.edu), focusing on the expression of membrane and soluble proteins and investigating their structures and conformational dynamics. This one-year appointment is renewable based on performance and funding availability.

Successful candidates shall have a strong background in biochemistry and/or biophysics and have experience using biophysical methods for protein characterization, including NMR spectroscopy. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for conducting research, preparing samples, and recording and analyzing data. The Postdoctoral Researcher will also be expected to mentor graduate students and undergraduate students, and assist in lab organization duties.

Our group specializes in characterization of membrane and soluble proteins involved in human cellular signaling. By integrating pharmacological, biochemical, and structural data, we aim to determine mechanisms of drug-induced signaling and to study how properties of the cellular environment, including the plasma membrane, impact signaling. As a member of our team, you'll be at the forefront of groundbreaking research, contributing to the advancement of our understanding of fundamental biology and pharmacology in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Expected Salary:

The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:
    Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related area The successful candidate should have a strong background in protein expression and purification methods, sample characterization (CD, SEC, fluorescence methods) Experience in NMR spectroscopy in aqueous solutions and/or solid-state NMR A track record of publications would be an asset Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently and in a team Ability to take initiatives, set priorities, time-manage, and resolve problem
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with protein sample preparation and NMR spectroscopy (solutions or solids) is preferred.
