Overview: As a Phlebotomy Technician, you play a vital role in the healthcare system by collecting blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, research, or blood donations. Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood samples according to established procedures.
• Verify patient identity and labeling of samples to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to comply with infection control and safety standards.
• Prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory and ensure proper storage and handling.
• Assist in the processing and analysis of blood samples as needed.
• Educate patients on the phlebotomy process and provide instructions for sample collection, if necessary.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to prioritize sample collection and meet testing deadlines.
• Follow established protocols for handling and disposing of hazardous materials and sharps.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of venipuncture techniques, blood collection procedures, and safety protocols.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in sample collection and documentation.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift/move equipment as required.
