Job Description: Medical Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated individual to join our team as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA). As an MLA, you will play a vital role in assisting medical laboratory technologists and scientists in conducting tests, experiments, and analyses to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

Responsibilities:

• Perform various laboratory procedures under the supervision of medical laboratory technologists and scientists.
• Collect, receive, label, and process specimens accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare specimens and samples for analysis according to established protocols and procedures.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols to ensure accurate and reliable test results and maintain a safe working environment.
• Record and document test results, observations, and data accurately and legibly.
• Assist in quality control and quality assurance procedures to maintain laboratory accreditation and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace.
• Provide support and assistance to other laboratory staff as needed.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program or relevant certification preferred.
• Prior experience in a laboratory setting is advantageous but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling specimens and conducting tests.
• Ability to follow instructions, protocols, and safety guidelines meticulously.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and interact with patients when necessary.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Qualifications:

• Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification (Preferred)
