Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our healthcare team. As an LPN/LVN, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians. Your primary responsibilities will include providing basic medical care, assisting with patient hygiene, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and ensuring patient comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care: As an LPN/LVN, you will provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting patients with mobility. You will ensure patients are comfortable and their needs are met promptly and effectively.
  2. Medication Administration: The LPN/LVN will be responsible for administering prescribed medications, including oral, topical, and injectable forms. You will monitor patients for any adverse reactions and report them to the supervising RN or physician.
  3. Vital Signs Monitoring: As an LPN/LVN, you will regularly measure and record patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates. Accurate documentation and timely reporting of any abnormalities are essential.
  4. Wound Care: The LPN/LVN will perform basic wound care, including cleaning and dressing wounds, and monitoring for signs of infection. You will follow proper protocols to ensure patient safety and promote healing.
  5. Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and home care procedures is an important part of the LPN/LVN role. You will provide clear instructions and answer any questions to support patient understanding and compliance.
  6. Medical Documentation: The LPN/LVN will maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documenting care provided, medications administered, and any changes in patient condition. Attention to detail and adherence to documentation standards are crucial.
  7. Collaboration: Working closely with the healthcare team, the LPN/LVN will communicate effectively with RNs, physicians, and other medical professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care. You will participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning.
  8. Emergency Response: As an LPN/LVN, you must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies promptly and efficiently. You will assist with emergency procedures, such as CPR, and provide support until additional help arrives.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Education: A diploma or certificate from an accredited LPN/LVN program is required. Associate degrees in nursing are also acceptable.
  • Licensure: Current and valid LPN/LVN licensure in the state of practice is mandatory. Candidates must maintain licensure through continuing education and renewal as required by state regulations.
  • Experience: Previous experience as an LPN/LVN is preferred but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Additional certifications, such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), are advantageous.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, including medication administration, wound care, and vital signs monitoring. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Attributes: Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others are essential qualities for an LPN/LVN. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently is crucial.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer skills are necessary for accurate medical documentation and communication.
