Under the oversight of the Clinical Director, the Lead Clinician manages all clinical components of an inpatient substance abuse treatment program. This includes directing and supervising clinical staff in the delivery of substance abuse treatment services and aftercare planning. The Clinical Supervisor also provides individual therapy, creates treatment plans, manages cases, advocates for clients, and offers counseling and crisis intervention.
Tasks And Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the clinical director and counselors to establish the continuum of care for program participants.
- Guides counseling staff in the daily provision of family-focused, trauma-informed mental health services to inpatients.
- Offers individual and group counseling and participates in case conferences.
- Reviews and approves clinical appropriateness of curricula and new program materials.
- Ensures counseling staff are trained in delivering any new curricula.
- Supervises the assessment of new clients, schedules them for treatment activities, assigns caseloads, and monitors clinicians' performance.
- Reviews and approves clinical documentation, and performs quality assurance reviews to ensure timely record-keeping.
- Evaluates and develops staff, enhancing strengths and minimizing weaknesses.
- Acts as a liaison with families and recommends program improvements.
- Continuously assesses clients to identify changing needs for individual and family treatment.
- Conducts regular chart reviews to ensure timely record-keeping and regulatory compliance.
- Attends meetings with the clinical director to discuss program revisions and improvements.
- Engages in quality assurance and utilization review activities, suggesting corrective actions.
- Maintains organizational performance and conduct standards.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in medicine, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field
- NYS Licensure/Certification
- Qualified health professional (QHP) status
- 3-5 years of experience in substance abuse treatment counseling and staff supervision
