Job Description: Healthcare Assistant

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Healthcare Assistants. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to patients, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff in various healthcare settings. Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. Provide assistance with toileting, feeding, and medication reminders as needed. Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients at all times.

2. Vital Signs Monitoring: Perform routine measurements of vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate. Document vital sign readings accurately and report any abnormalities to healthcare providers promptly.

3. Assistance with Procedures: Assist healthcare providers with medical procedures and treatments, such as wound care, specimen collection, and diagnostic tests. Prepare examination rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures and assist with patient positioning and comfort.

4. Patient Transport: Transport patients to and from various locations within the healthcare facility, including examination rooms, diagnostic imaging departments, and rehabilitation areas. Ensure patient safety during transport and provide assistance as needed.

5. Patient Communication: Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information, reassurance, and emotional support. Answer patient questions, address concerns, and relay messages to healthcare providers as appropriate.

6. Administrative Support: Perform various clerical tasks to support the operations of the healthcare facility, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and processing paperwork. Assist with billing, insurance verification, and other administrative duties as assigned.

7. Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and practices to prevent the spread of infections within the healthcare setting. Follow hand hygiene guidelines, use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately, and maintain cleanliness and sanitation in patient care areas.

8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including nurses, physicians, therapists, and support staff, to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes. Participate in team meetings, huddles, and handoffs to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) program or healthcare assistant training program preferred but not required.

2. Certification: Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) or healthcare assistant may be required depending on the healthcare setting and state regulations.

3. Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and receive on-the-job training.

4. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members with respect and compassion.

5. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Physical strength and stamina to assist with patient transfers and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
