We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Donor Phlebotomy Technician to join our team. As a Donor Phlebotomy Technician, you will play a vital role in collecting blood donations from donors, ensuring the safety and comfort of donors throughout the process. Responsibilities:
Phlebotomy: Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood donations from donors using appropriate techniques and equipment. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of blood samples collected for testing and processing.
Donor Screening: Conduct donor screening interviews to assess donor eligibility and suitability for donation based on established criteria and guidelines. Obtain medical history information, assess vital signs, and perform physical assessments as needed.
Donor Care: Provide compassionate care and support to donors throughout the donation process, ensuring their comfort and well-being. Monitor donors for adverse reactions or complications and respond promptly and appropriately to ensure donor safety.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete records of donor information, including demographic data, medical history, donation details, and post-donation instructions. Ensure that all documentation is complete, up-to-date, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance: Adhere to established quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of blood collections. Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols to minimize the risk of contamination and maintain the integrity of blood products.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment, including blood collection devices, needles, and centrifuges. Ensure that equipment is clean, functional, and properly sterilized to prevent infection and ensure donor safety.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, laboratory technicians, and medical staff, to coordinate donor care and ensure efficient workflow. Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate the smooth operation of the blood donation process.
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification as a Phlebotomy Technician preferred.
Certification: Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Donor Phlebotomy Technician (DPT) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
Experience: Previous experience in phlebotomy or blood collection preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and receive on-the-job training.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact professionally with donors, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in blood collection procedures. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain meticulous records.
