Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations of an inpatient-based substance abuse treatment program. This includes supervising clinical staff in the delivery of treatment services and aftercare planning for clients, as well as providing individual therapy, treatment planning, case management, client advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention.
Tasks And Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the clinical director and counselors to define care plans for participants.
- Supervises counseling staff in providing family-focused, trauma-informed mental health services to inpatients.
- Delivers individual and group counseling and participates in case conferences.
- Approves program curricula and materials for clinical appropriateness.
- Ensures counseling staff are trained in any new curricula.
- Manages new client assessments, schedules treatment activities, assigns caseloads, and evaluates staff performance.
- Reviews and approves clinical documentation, ensuring timely record-keeping through quality assurance.
- Assesses and develops staff performance, identifying strengths and weaknesses.
- Acts as a liaison with families and recommends program improvements.
- Continuously assesses clients to identify changing needs for treatment.
- Conducts chart reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Attends meetings with the clinical director to discuss and improve programs.
- Participates in quality assurance and suggests corrective actions.
- Upholds performance and conduct standards according to organizational expectations.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field such as medicine, psychology, or social work
- NYS Licensure/Certification
- Qualified health professional (QHP)
- 3-5 years of experience in substance abuse counseling and staff supervision
